Our morning started off quite rainy. We were woken around 3am when a storm blew through with winds and downpours that blew open all of the unlocked windows on the apartment. That was all of them. So we went around cleaning up puddles and shutting windows. George and I put our rain gear to good use for the first time on this trip when we headed out in search of breakfast this morning.
Despite the less than stellar forecast today, we decided to head up the mountain. We did not regret it! Since the weather was not awesome, we did not have to fight with crowds anywhere along the way. The ride up was just a really awesome feat of intelligence and also slightly terrifying. It was our best vistas of the day as we went up in sunshine. By the time we got to the top the clouds were surrounding the peak and we missed out on seeing much. We still hiked around and made it to the top most point.
The ride down allows for a few stops which were a blast. First stop was for toboggan rides. I had actually never done one myself and it was a blast! We then jumped backed on the gondola to stop two which was a restaurant and playground. I had one of the more disgusting meals because Edith wanted pasta, but that was my fault for ordering pasta in Switzerland. The restaurant actually had a slide from the side deck to the playground a floor below. Kids were exhausted and sweaty, but since Switzerland has figured out buses a bit better than others, our bus arrived right on time and whisked us back to the city center. We didn’t get our final gelato in as once we finished dinner nothing within a mile was still open!
Tomorrow is going to be a very long travel day.
