Duomo Milan

Stunning!  We are not quite sure what to expect from tourist things, especially with the kids in tow.  But the Duomo was nothing short of spectacular.  Not only do you get to see this church inside, but you also get to walk on the rooftop.  (Margaret also recognized the Duomo as the site of the Andrea Boccelli concert we watched two Easters ago ).  The rooftop had such beautiful vistas with the Alps in the distance.  The rooftop details and expanse were truly incredible.   It is also really secure so I never felt unsafe even having my children on the top of an ancient edifice.  We rounded out the afternoon at FAO Schwartz and ate some gelato before dragging the whining children home.

We decided to try a nice dinner tonight after taking a bit of riposo this afternoon, but that is always a gamble. I was against it, but Will was right that they needed to get out of the apartment.  Kids rallied after wrestling and fighting their way through the afternoon for a very pleasant dinner.  We are tired. We are asking these kids to walk 4-6 miles a day, which feels like a lot to me so can only imagine what their little bodies are feeling.   Looking forward to Como tomorrow to have a bit more breathing room and some outdoor space to explore.  We just need to figure out how the heck to get there with our crew.
